Spike's Quest by Lysok Spike's Quest by Lysok
These are sketches I painted for a story which I developed in my mind when I found Zenith ([link]) by the amazing David Larsen.

It's about Spike looking for an ancient artifact called "Touch of the Sun", "Zenith of the Sun" or simply "Zenith" which is supposed to have a great healing powers, but it was lost during the Griffin wars. With this item he wants to heal Twilight, who have fallen in some kind of coma. When he learns about the Zenith, he tells Celestia, but because she won't let him go on this quest for some reason and she orders him to stay in the Canterlot, he must leave through sewers and then he goes to the borders of Griffin kingdom, where he wants to find some clues. Only thing that gives him hope is Twilight's tiara, which is also supposed to unlock the Zenith. (He took it when he left and he would talk to it during his quest, hoping that Twilight could hear him.) After few events and escapes from the royal guard, which was send by Celestia, he arrives. But he's not prepared and he is defeated by the greate mountains. He would die if not a handful of griffins who took him to their village and took care of him. (Here is a griffin girl who found him: [link] ) When he recovers he returns to his quest and thanks to griffins, he knows where to go, but with every step he realises why Celestia wanted to stop him. She knows very well that there are things which are better to be forgotten. After some time and few events (And one sailing adventure! Yarrrgh!) he finally finds the Zenith . But he also finds a very old secret.

I’m terrible writer and I’m terrible in writing English so if you’ll see any mistake, please let me know.

It was so long and difficult (at least for a kid, so I was !), kind of extraordinary for a Flash game on a vendor web site like Lego.com is.
With a not extremely linear progression and an *enormous* quantity of scenes and artworks for that kind of product.

Well, you see, ten years after I'm still talking about it with pleasure =P

It makes you wonder why it never had a console release.

Console release ? Well, it's just a flash game, uh !
Even if its "story quality" was quite unexpected at this time (year 2000) and in front of all of those little flash games on Lego.com, often just some little arcade games.

Plus the gameplay could be hard to translate to consoles. Well, it's a point-and-click adventure flash game.
This one has a story to tell and is not afraid to give kids some riddles not always really easy.

By the way, the game is still available on the website of its creators :
www.templar.com/games/mnog/Pla…

There is even a walk-through. biosector01.com/wiki/index.php…
Look at this, a wiki for the entire Bionicle universe. All of it, from A to Z !

Honestly, something on Internet, still available 14 years after, it's not very common =D

I am in awe; this is quite breathtaking, indeed!

This is gorgeous, epic, and touching. You totally nailed the atmospheres, especially with the details of the landscape such as the bridges overhead in the last picture - it really portrays the immense scale of each environment. Each picture tells a story of its own and they're linked together perfectly. On top of that, you have an epic, touching story written out. Spike going through hell and back to save Twilight. Just freaking awesome, dude.

OK, I might not be liked for this, but oh well. First of all, the last panel, which I believe is the Zenith, looks like a star map, which would show that the Earth revolves around the Sun, proving that Celestia is a fake. Secondly, on the Zenith, the Emblem of Magic, as I call it, outshines even the sun on the Zenith. Thus, I believe that Twilight's own power could rival, even exceed, Celestia's own. So, to sum it all up, Celestia fears for a power struggle that could bring about her demise.

Who says you're a bad writer? Aside from a few grammatical errors, the premise of the story is really intriguing. That, accompanied with the awesome sketches, makes this story quite powerful. I'd love to see this story written out or even drawn in comic form if you get ambitious :) Keep it up!

You're right, Spike's journey would have to be long enough. All the great episodes opening and ending each season so far were doubles (except the gala) and 40 minutes weren't too much for all the action... There should be more of those because they tend to be the coolest ones. :w00t: Plus, it's only those rare occasions that give the series a sense of continuity in time...
To solve the necessary three or more episodes problem, I say this story here would even deserve to be made into a movie. It's about time they make one!
But since it's unlikely to happen, it would at the very least make the best MLP fiction ever written. 8-)

Downright gorgeous. MLP:FiM makes pretty good use of color in its characters and backgrounds, and I'm pleased to see that you've built upon Equestria's lighting and mood guidelines to convey an original story.

I also adore the painterly style of most pieces of concept art, and the addition of ponies pretty much solidifies my need to favorite this five times over. Well done, you.

This is an amazing and epic drawing, as well as the story summary that you provide to describe it; not to mention the great musical piece that inspired this. All three of these things just beg to have the full story told of Spike epic and noble quest to find a cure for Twilight.

and lost myths. I'm awestruck.

A Fanfic. WE expect one, now. Thank you for that. Jerk. LOL JK. But seriously, This is an awesome comic. Extremely well painted. Your description only left us wanting more. The mark of a true artist. Seriously, this needs a fanfic to explain Everything. For starters, how did Spike know that the Tiara would be the key? seems a bit too convenient, for me. All the same, love this comic, as well as the picture with the griffon cradling Spike. Keep up the great work.
